What does the MagicBand do?

The MagicBand serves as an admission ticket, Disney resort room key, FastPass+ ticket, PhotoPass or Memory Maker account link, and a form of payment for Disney resort guests. You can link a MagicBand to the MyDisneyExperience account and be able to link your friends and family reservations together. You will find the best use of it when linking your admission ticket or MagicBand, Dining reservations, tour reservations, etc. For more information on the My Disney Experience and MagicBands, click here.

Am I able to use the MagicBands when booking through DVC Points?

Absolutely! When staying on property through DVC points you are a Disney Guest and are able to take advantage of all the perks staying on property offers including the all new MagicBands. Once your accommodations are secured, your Travel Advisor will send you an email with instructions on how to order/customize your MagicBands. Will I be able to use FastPass+ Services?

Yes! Providing you have Walt Disney World Theme Park Tickets linked to your My Disney Experience account, you will be able to select FastPass+ times prior to your arrival. For more information on the My Disney Experience and MagicBands, click here.

Once purchased, will I see my Disney Dining Plan on my My Disney Experience account?

When Disney released the all new My Disney Experience feature, the Disney Parks system could no longer “talk to” the Disney Vacation Club system. Because of this, you will not see the dining plan through your My Disney Experience account. The only way to see that the dining plan has been added to your reservation(s) is by confirming your reservation using the instructions that will be provided by your DVC Rental Store Travel Advisor or by calling 407-WDW-DINE. Back to Question List

If I secure a split stay, how will my Magic Band work with my tickets?

You are now able to use the same band throughout your entire stay on property.  As long as you do not deactivate your band through your MDE account, any band can be used during your stay.  In other words, your bands are not linked to a specific reservation.  In fact, as long as the bands stay active, they can be used on any upcoming trips that you may take.  Because the bands are linked to your MDE account, anything that you have linked to your account can be read through any of your bands. For more information on the My Disney Experience and MagicBands, click here.

Back to Question List

How do the MagicBands work? I am concerned about my privacy.

MagicBands is the latest in Radio Frequency (RF) technology. The MB’s will link with your FastPass+ reservation at touch points around the resort, such as the attractions, admissions, photos, restaurants, and if you are a resort guest, your room door. The RF must meet a touch point for it to register you are coming into the park, or visiting an attraction, etc. Disney will be able to see where you travel inside the park by these touch points and will better be able to tailor offers to you in the future. At the same time Disney does not want anyone else to be able to read any personal data you have linked to your MyDisneyExperience account so they use a series of encryptions, secure links, and random data codes to separate your personal information from your MagicBand. If you lose your MB or it is stolen, simply deactivate it in the MyDisneyExperience app and/or visit a Guest Relations location for MyMagic+ in the park or at the front desk of your Disney resort, and they will help you. If you are a resort guest they will most likely reissue you a second band. After the second one if you lose it you will need to purchase your next Magic Band. Other people will not be able to access your account to charge anything because your pin is required at every purchase point. Back to Question List

Do I have to wear my MagicBand on my wrist? Does it matter which wrist I wear it on?

You do not have to; some people wear them on their lanyards. They are fairly comfortable and easy to forget about. The touch points are at a comfortable height to tap your band at when worn on your wrist, but not too high for children. You can choose which wrist to wear it on but you need to decide which index finger you want to use when coming in the entrance of the park on the finger scanner. Back to Question List

Can the MagicBands be decorated? They look so plain.

Disney sells an expansive line of items to decorate your MagicBands but we suggest Cover Bands. Cover Bands are vinyl decals for your theme park wristbands. They’re removable (not reusable) and waterproof. Check out their extensive line of designs here.
