What to Pack for Your Disney Trip

What to Pack for a Disney Vacation

August 8, 2022
By

You’ve booked your stay, scheduled your flights, purchased your tickets, and booked your park passes and advanced dining reservations.  What’s left now that your vacation countdown has begun in earnest?  Figuring out what to pack for a Disney vacation!  Below are some essentials that will make your Disney trip that much easier.

Sensible Clothing

This is going to depend on what time of year you are traveling, but in general, go for what’s practical and comfortable.  Lighter fabrics and activewear that breathes well and wicks sweat are way more comfortable for the hotter weather.  Even sundresses can still be practical since they are breezy and cool.  However, keep in mind that Florida can get chilly in the late fall and winter.  If your trip falls around November through February, you’ll want a jacket in case it gets chilly, especially at night.

Rain Gear

No matter what time of year you travel, it’s always a good idea to have some sort of rain gear in your Disney park bag, whether it’s a poncho or an umbrella.  Disposable ponchos are especially convenient since they are inexpensive and don’t take up much space in your luggage.

Battery Packs

With the My Disney Experience app being such an integral part of your Walt Disney World experience from Genie+ to mobile order for quick service restaurants, it’s no surprise that your phone will need a charge or two before the end of the day.  While chargers are helpful too, battery packs are more convenient on the go since you won’t have to search for an outlet. This item is definitely a must-pack for a Disney vacation!

Sunscreen

There’s nothing fun about a sunburn, so don’t forget to pack some sunscreen.  While the souvenir shops in the resorts and parks will carry sunscreen, it’ll be cheaper to bring your own from home.

Refillable Water Bottle

Speaking of sunscreen, the Florida sun is no joke, and it’s always good to stay hydrated in the hot weather.  If you bring your own water bottle, there are some water bottle refill stations in the parks, such as in Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Magic Kingdom, Connections Eatery in Epcot, and by the restrooms in Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios.

An Extra Pair of Shoes

If you get caught in the rain, or you find that your feet could use a little TLC after walking for miles at the parks, it’s helpful to have another pair of shoes to change into.

Laundry Detergent Pods and Dryer Sheets for Your Villa

One advantage to staying at a DVC resort is access to washers and dryers, whether you are using the ones that are in the One Bedroom Villas and larger accommodations or using the free laundry rooms when staying in a Studio.  Although the villas do have a small bottle of detergent, and you can purchase detergent and fabric softener in the laundry rooms, bringing your own detergent and dryer sheets makes it easier for you to wash a load, so you can pack fewer outfits for your trip.

Discounted Disney Gift Cards

A great way to get a little extra savings for your vacation is to stock up on discounted Disney gift cards.  For example, you can get 5% off gift cards at Target when paying with your Target Red Card.  Other retailers that offer discounts are wholesale stores like BJ’s or Sam’s Club.
